Entry for July 8, 2008
We had a great VBS - Thanks to all the volunteers for your help in making this a successful VBS. I've been dizzy this weekend. Thanks to all who have been praying for me. I'm feeling a lot better, but still a little dizzy. We made it to Louisville Monday. Back to my studies! This week: Personal Spiritual Disciplines. 2008-07-09 00:27:32 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link
Entry for June 4, 2008 ![]() My studies at Southern Seminary are still keeping me busy. I haven't had much time to update my blog. I'm thoroughly enjoying my indepth study of Matthew. The course is full of work, but I'm seeing Matthew's Gospel like I've never seen it before. It is full of rich structure and wording. It's a great book of Scripture. Thanks to Dr. Pennington for a great class this week. Praise the Lord for the Scripture! Back to work I guess! I look forward to being home soon. 2008-06-05 02:24:53 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link
Entry for April 30, 2008 ![]() Oh, to get some real rest. I've finished one of my three courses for the semester, but have a lot to do to complete the other two (two papers, a test, and some journal writings). Maybe when I'm finished, I can write a few more blog entries. But wait, I have another class starting in June! At the school where I once taught, we had a "special" verse for such occasions: Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape. Hezekiah 3:16. (Of course, if you try to look that up, you'll find out it doesn't really exist. It's a good thought though.) I guess I'll just hang in there! 2008-05-01 02:19:05 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link
Entry for April 17, 2008 ![]() Sometimes I need big clues to where I'm going in life. This week I've heard two great messages that have blessed my heart and encouraged my ministry. The first was from Dr. Russell D. Moore, from Exodus 32. I was really challenged to reflect upon my goals in life and make sure I don't have a "golden calf" I'm hanging on to. Accordingly, I should be satisfied with the work God is doing in my life right now. The second message was from Dr. Chuck Lawless. Preaching from 1 Corinthians 1:1-9, Dr. Lawless challenged his listeners to 1) remember God's gracious calling on their lives, 2) remember our work is about God and not about us, and 3) remember to love God's people. He stated that our work is "of God, by God, through God, and for God." I was really encouraged by this message to remain focused on the work God has called me to do here in Ratcliff. I thank God for calling me to serve Him here. To God be the glory.

Tax time!! It's that time of year again. It's easy to grumble about taxes and bills. I'm sure most of us are guilty of that kind of complaining. Here's a good Scripture to help us through: "Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to who custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law." (Romans 13:7-8)
